Why Am I Always Feel Hungry On Medifast? How Can I Do It?

On the Medifast diet, you are getting a daily intake of 800 to 1,000 calories per day including five Medifast meals and one high-protein, low-carb meal you prepare yourself. The food is full of protein and each meal has 11g of protein, which helps you feel satiated longer. However, some people may feel hungry, particularly during the first three days. It is no a bad thing!

Why Am I Always Feel Hungry On Medifast? How Can I Do It?

What is happening is that during the start of the program your body is literally changing how it fuels, or powers itself. It is often sometime on the third day that your body makes the shift to achieving a mild fat-burning state. In order to get to a fat-burning state, you may experience hunger. Once that state of fat-burning begins after the first 3-7 days, for most people the hunger pangs fade and are really not all that often, unless it is past your appointed time to eat a meal.

If you are experiencing hunger when starting Medifast, you need to eat an extra Medifast meal. The 100 calories from the meal will not throw your body out of fat burn, you will continue to burn fat.

The feeling of hunger should end by the end of the 2nd week. If you continue to struggle with hunger beyond the two week, your stomach may be excreting more acid than needed for the small volume of food intake. This can create a gnawing sensation in your stomach that feels exactly like hunger. If you have a history of having an ulcer or gastritis, you can be particularly prone to this type of hunger problem. To manage hunger that won't go away, consider taking an acid-blocker medication such as Zantac, Tagamet or Pepcid AC.
