13 Common Side Effects Of Medifast - Problems From Decreased Caloric Intake

5. Hungry

While on the Medifast plan, many people say they feel very hungry. That is pretty common in the first 1-2 weeks, since you are reducing your caloric intake. As a new user and you are within the first three days, you can go eat an extra Medifast Meal. By eating an extra meal you will continue to move your body towards fat burning and not devastate the plan, you will just get rid of the hunger. Once you get past the first few days you will soon realize that it is not really hungry.

The feeling of hunger should end by the end of the 2nd week. If it doesn't, you may have too much acid in your stomach. Taking an OTC acid blocker can help with that issue.

6. Feeling Cold

Some individuals may feel cold on the program due to the lower caloric intake. Try a Medifast hot product, and make sure to carry around a sweater or jacket.

7. Hair Loss

Some individuals may experience hair loss on the program because of poor nutrition and the high amount of protein that is consumed using Medifast, the hair that is lost is quickly replaced. However, it dose not happen to all individuals. Poor nutrition and rapid weight loss can cause a 20%-30% increase in the number of hairs you shed each day. Once you stop taking Medifast and return to a normal diet, the length of time it takes for your hair to fill in depends on your hair growth cycle. You may want to incorporate one of the following to help with hair loss :

  • Increase your fluid intake, making sure to get at least 64 ounces of water a day.
  • Biotin (a vitamin B complex)
  • Fish oil
  • Flaxseed oil
  • 1-2 Tbsp of canola or olive oil
