What Regular Food Can Be Eaten On Medifast? Can I Have Condiments And Fruits?
The Lean and Green meal is your single daily meal from regular foods on Medifast. It is a entree which you can have at any time and you prepare yourself. This meal is made up of two basic components:
Men can have 6-7 oz and women have 4-5 oz of lean protein from pork, beef, mutton, turkey, without a skin of hen, salmon, tilapia, flounder, tuna, tofu and eggs.
The lean meat must be grilled, poached, baked, but not fried since it contains fatty oil.
For the vegetarian, the tofu is a very common choices. Eggs are another, you can have either fourteen egg whites or three whole eggs. Keep in mind the whole eggs are more fattening and you are limited to having them no more than once a week.
You can have one cup of the leafy vegetables like lettuce, raw spinach, mustard greens, collards, endive, watercress and other low carbohydrate vegetables. However, the high-carbohydrate vegetables must to be cut out like corn, potatoes and carrots.
Since certain condiments can add a significant amount of fat and calories to a meal, Medifast limits the amount of condiments dieters can use. As a general rule, Medifast claims that one serving of a condiment should not provide more than 1g of carbohydrate. Dieters should limit their condiment intake to three or fewer servings per day. Possibilities include:
1 serving of barbecue sauce, catsup, cocktail sauce, or wasabi is 1/2 teaspoon
1 serving of fish sauce, horseradish, yellow mustard or marinara sauce is 1 tablespoon
