15 Conditions Would Absolutely Prohibit Your Use Of A Low Calorie Diet Such As Medifast

  1. BMI Non-compliance  Medifast requires you to be at least 30% overweight, otherwise you would prohibit use of it.
  2. Pregnant or Lactating  This is not the time to attempt to lose weight, as your body needs additional calories to have a healthy baby. Medifast Meals can be used as a healthy snack choice with your physician's approval.
  3. Type 1 Diabetes  Medifast Plus for Diabetics can help Type II diabetes control blood sugar and lose unwanted pounds. However, we recommend that Type I diabetics use Medifast products as an occasional meal replacement only.

  1. Active peptic ulcer disease or bleeding ulcers.
  2. Unstable angina, clotting disorders.
  3. Active cancers or actively being treated for cancer.
  4. Recent or recurrent CVAs or TIAs, stroke, uncontrolled seizures.
  5. Myocardial Infarction (MI) / Heart Attack within previous 3 months.
  6. Active Thrombophlebitis (DVT/PE) within 3 months.
  7. Corticosteroid therapy >20 mg/day.
  8. Severe liver disease.
  9. Severe kidney disease.
  10. Eating disorder such as Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia.
  11. Severe psychiatric disturbance such as history of major depression and/or suicide attempts.
  12. Chronic illicit drug usage, addictions, alcoholism or substance abuse.
