Massage Therapy For Constipation

Some people with disabilities suffer from constipation. Contributing factors can include the medications that they may take, low levels of physical activity, insufficient fluids and a diet that may be too low in fibre. Increasing the amount of fibre in the diet not only treats constipation but also lowers cholesterol, may reduce the risk of various cancers and bowel diseases, and improves general health and wellbeing.

Step Zhong Wan Point

On the center line of abdomen, 4 finger's breadth above umbilicus. Massage it a light by middle finger for 1-3 minutes.

Step Tian Shu Point

On the abdomen, 2 finger's breadth lateral to the umbilicus. Massage it by middle finger for 1-3 minutes.

Step Da Chang Shu Point

On the lower back, 1. 5 finger's breadth lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra. Wrap up low back with the hands and massage it by thumb for 1-3 minutes.

Step Xiao Chang Shu Point

In the sacral region, 1.5 finger's breadth lateral to the posterior midline, at the level of the first posterior sacral foramen.
Wrap up low back with the hands and massage it by thumb for 1-3 minutes.

Step Shen Men Point

On the transverse wrist crease, in the small depression between the pisiform and ulna bones.

Step Zu San Li Point

On the leg, one finger breadth lateral to the tibia's anterior crest, 3 finger's breadth inferior to knee. Massage the point for 1-3 minutes.
