Wavefront-optimized LASIK is a standard LASIK procedure performed using Wavelight's Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser, which is four times faster than conventional excimer lasers. The Allegretto Wave system was produced by the German company WaveLight AG and is now sold by Alcon.

What Is Wavefront-Optimized LASIK? Different To Custom LASIK

Wavefront-optimized LASIK contain both Conventional LASIK and Custom Wavefront-Gudede LASIK, it aims to correct refractive errors while maintaining the natural shape of the cornea to prevent inducing higher-order aberrations during the vision correction process. It doesn't try to correct pre-existing higher-order aberrations. Wavefront-optimized LASIK has been found to reduce the complications such as glare, halos, and other night vision problems which can happen with conventional LASIK treatments.

Different Between Wavefront-Optimized & Custom LASIK

FDA show that there are no significant difference between the outcomes of treatment performed using Wavefront-Guided Custom and Wavefront-Optimized LASIK, they has the same efficacy and safety profile. However, the Custom LASIK induced fewer higher-order aberrations, the Wavefront-Optimized LASIK gives excellent result in correcting spherical aberration, without affecting the higher order aberrations.
